This item works very well at removing dust from my apartment. My neighbor uses one in her apartment to remove her cigarette smoke, and I can say that it definitely works - I hate cigarette smoke, and I can't detect it when I'm in her apartment (I can smell cigarette smoke in a car that passes me on the street.)
